Description A fragment of a large vase: the piece is nearly flat. The head (except nose and mouth), forequarters, and part of the antlers of a grazing deer modeled in relief are preserved. The deer stands with head lowered; the back rises up in a hump at the base of the neck. Its right foreleg (the hoof is missing) is bent forward; the left leg (preserved complete) is straight. The head is triangular. Features are difficult to distinguish, but there is probably an incised almond-shaped eye and an incised curve for the brow. An almond-shaped ear with a slit in the center is incised on the surface of the neck. The antler is formed by a long straight bar with parts preserved of four parallel branches projecting from its right edge.
Fabric Description Coarse black impasto with bits of stone; there are a few orange spots.
