Description Locus 4 is defined by a small grained, fine and very soft soil which is darker than the surrounding Locus 3 baked clay. It is significantly softer than the hard Locus 3 surface, and can easily be removed with a touch of the hand. It is a darker mid brown with occasional tiny charcoal fragments incorporated into the soil and little to no organic material. It forms a circular feature which is very clearly visible both from colour and texture differences between Loci 3 and 4.
