Description Locus 3 was located in the 1m x 3m southern extension. The soil was a medium brown humus layer full of roots and organic material, similar to locus 1. It did not contain as much root rot as locus 1, but it did contain the majority of a stump that extended slightly into the original trench area. In locus 3 we uncovered many scattered medium-sized rocks. A visible section of bedrock was uncovered along the southern baulk near the western corner of the extension.
