Field Description Upper = 530-535. Soft brown silty clay with numerous cm size yellow blobs (+opal). Probably phosphatized terrier. Check if terrier has “detrital,” reworked phosphate nodules. Lower: Hard, with yellow veins and sand size white blobs (opal?). Looks like hearth with in situ charcoal. White silt size spots on cracks (variscite?). Matrix variable in color, being slightly reddish in pockets.

THIN SECTION Observations Huge, milky, occluded concretions (see FTIR of Nicolet). Difficulat to see material because of extensive blobs, but looks like some reddish brown organic matter from hearth.
