Description | Locus 7 is a light brown, sandy and loosely compacted soil. It is full of large and small rocks measuring approximately 5-20 centimeters in size as well as large and small roots. Locus 7 extended over the northern extent of the trench. A large amount of material was recovered from this locus including large amounts of tile and pottery. No architectural features are present in Locus 7, the locus lies directly to the north of the large linear rock feature that is present in the northern extent of Locus 4.However, at the end of excavation of Locus 7 ancient floor surface was found with large architectural tile and large pieces of plaster imbedded into the surface. Locus 7 is equivalent to Locus 6, the locus number designated to this extension in 2014 but upon reopening in 2015, a new locus number was assigned. Locus 7 is additionally equivalent to Locus 2, Locus 4, Locus 10 and Locus 12. Locus 7 consisted of mainly Archaic material but modern glass was also found in this locus, thus, designating this locus as non-contextual. |
