Condition Single sherd, broken from body at bottom, and top of rim edge broken off; chipped and worn.
Description Heavy fragment of rim of large bowl, originally a piece rectangular in section on the outer side of rim: projected from body and upper edge of rim of vessel; interior of rim is raised ridge, interior surface smooth. Exterior has decoration partly recessed from surface and partly in relief: on left side, a roughly square panel with female head - triangular face and mass of hair on top of head are in relief, while three tresses of hair on each side of face, and shoulder-chest area are recessed and modeled in lower relief. Features abraded, but traces remain of large, round eyes, and thick mouth recessed low on face, above pointed chin. On right side is partly obliterated recessed design, possibly an abstract floral shape, with portion resembling a volute.
Fabric Description Impasto, very gritty, ligh green-gray interior, dull black exterior.
