Description |
SU 7028 contains material (likely reused) within possibly mortared—over architectural fall. It sits against northern face of installation 7026_f1 (door jamb) and above architectural fall. It appears to be earlier than architectural fall 7025— i.e. some of this debris appears to have damaged its original arrangement/shape [and it was altered by fall of large stone block 7025]. Soil matrix is brown and the consistency is soft loose below upper stones and mortar. The stones below appeared to be packed against the northern face of door jamb—only the top stone that abuts the corner of western face of wall 7011_f2 and northern face of door jamb 7026_f1 is mortared over or in place. The west of the stones/tile and bits of mortar are packed against one another in a disorganized but seemingly purposeful manner. Very difficult to determine any shape. We changed SUs to 7030 after much of the SU was removed because the architectural fall/debris material was the same as that to north and west. This was excavated under SU 7030. * Set against western face of wall 7011_f2 * Matrix of soil very similar to (if not same as) that in 7033. * See final report for interpretation TLS SE: 7.77 C: 7.58 N 7.66 BLS SW: 7.49 SE: 7.51 N: 7.5 |
