Description | This soil is a 7.5 YR 5/4 (Brown). Bedding under the east adytus maximus pavement, exposed in some areas due to damage to the limestone flags of the adytus maximus. The east edge is also exposed and mostly missing, revealing that this feature rests on top of the Phase I stylobate of the interior colonnade. Like much of the floor bedding in the temple, it consists of sandstone cobbles set in mud mortar. The bedding was not excavated this season; in areas where pavers still seal it the bedding should be removed in future seasons in order to recover material remains for dating. |
