Condition | Broken on one side (where nose joined face) with broken side abraded; slightly worn. |
Description | Small fragment preserves most of triangular, pointed nose of a statue, broken from face behind nostrils and lacking a section of the bridge of the nose. Small projection of clay on its right side is presumably the attachment to the upper lip. Bottom surface of nose is triangle-shaped with rounded corners; nostrils are two irregular roughly parallel indentations set almost diagonally in back two-thirds of the triangle. On the upper surface of the nose are two smooth indentations above the area of the nostrils creating a smooth straight plane down the center of the nose. The right side of the nose is slightly heavier and more flaring than the left side. Surfaces are relatively smooth, but modeling is not detailed or particularly accurate. Nose is slightly larger than life-size. |
