Description | This appears to be all we are getting of this unit, although it is very incomplete. The unit sheet manages to place this in three different spaces simultaneously, but I believe it comes from the southeast corner of the southwest room of B. 63, either in or next to the bin in that corner. The pelvis is unmodified and definitely not a scoop, but more likely part of an abandonment deposit. There are two large fragments of large equid pelvis, separated by modern breaks; in all probability there was once a nearly complete innominate. There is also a young cattle mandible fragment, and a few bits of other mostly sheep-size bones. All are calcined and likely burned in situ. The pelvis was surely placed/dumped, and perhaps the mandible, possibly remains of a closing feast. The other bits may have been hanging around in the room or parts of the feast. Surfaces probably degraded mainly by burning; at least reasonably fresh when went in. |
