Catalog ID Note | Plaster Fragment with Reed Impressions and Two Perpendicular Finished Faces |
Size | max. pres. length: 0.08754m; max. pres. width: 0.07155m; max. pres. thickness: 0.04632m |
Condition | Fragment is heavily worn and heavily encrusted. Four ancient break edges. |
Description | A fragment of plaster preserving reed impressions on one face and two perpendicular finished edges. The face with reed impressions has one of full preserved width (0.01683m) and max. pres. length of 0.03230m. The other reed impression, along one of the ancient break edges, is a max. pres. width of 0.01564m and max. pres. length of 0.02817m. These two reed impressions are divided from one another by a projection about 0.01154m in width and a max. pres. length of 0.02495m. This face also has one roughly circular indentation, possibly where an inclusion fell out, which is an approximate depth of 0.01000m and approximate diameter of 0.00918m; it is located close to the edge which transitions into a flat, finished face perpendicular to the face with reed impressions and the indentation. The opposite face, parallel to the face with reed impressions and the indentation, is roughly flat and perpendicular to the other flat, finished edge. Though the face is predominately finished and flat, there is one protrusion somewhat near the center of the preserved fragment. The protrusion is max. pres. length of 0.02467m, max. pres. width of 0.02206m, and max. pres. height of 0.00348m. The break edges and remaining portions of the face with reed impressions and the indentation are irregular and amorphous. |
