Description | Fragment of a "cut-out" akroterion preserving what is probably the central part of an akroterion shaped like 19710310 (measurements above on this assumption); two smooth sides, one completely level, one with a somewhat irregular surface; the three preserved flat smooth edges can be identified with 1) hairpin curved edge at the top of the central, triangular, cut out hole 2) concave inner edge, at the central shaft, of one of the open circles formed by the outcurving limbs 3) outer oblique edge where thinnest section of outcurving limb joins it (very little preserved of this edge). On the surface of the irregular side there appears to be a footprint of a bird(?). |
Fabric Description | Murlo Terracotta, fired orange brown to yellowish brown on surface, gray at core; traces of a reddish (level side) or purplish brown (opposite side= originally red?) slip. |
