Condition The vessel is broken on all sides. The surface is rough and worn. The organic material preserved on the interior of the base is completely carbonized.
Description Fragment of the base of a pithos. The small surviving portion of the base turns to the rapidly rising vessel wall and then breaks off. The interior recession of the vessel at the point where the base turns to the vessel wall was filled with carbonized organic matter and several carbonized seeds. The organic material was removed in the course of conservation and now survives in two clumps.
