Description

Fragment A is a large fragment of plaster with two perpendicular amorphous faces.  The other two faces are roughly finished with an almost perpendicular corner between them.  One section of the cornering edge, though also roughly finished, has a semi-ovoid indentation on one face with max. pres. width of 0.042 m and max. pres. height of 0.012 m.  Despite this irregularity, this piece may represent a plastered surface over two elements which corner at a roughly 90 degree angle.

Fragment B is a small fragment of plaster with one flat, roughly finished face, and two amorphous faces, giving it a somewhat triangular profile.  The flat face was upon initial recovery of the piece attached to the finished perpendicular face with the indentation belonging to Fragment A.  After one day in the magazzino, however, as both fragments dried, they separated.  But the point of prior attachment is obvious and the pieces can be refitted together easily.  It is likely that Fragment B preserves a small portion of a second layer of plaster plastered over another, represented by Fragment A, without the first layer having been scored to receive the second, hence their separation once removed from the conditions of their original deposition.

Eleven other associated fragments were recovered with Fragment A and B, but none is preserved enough to contribute any further information.
