Description | Locus 7 extends over the entirety of the second north and west extensions of CA-82, which form an 'L' shape along the northern and western extents of the original trench and first extension of CA-82. There are some trees and stumps present in Locus 7. The soil is similar to that of Locus 1, in that it is very coarse and dry in texture, and has clay-like qualities to it; coming up in hard packed chunks that are difficult to break apart. It is dark in color. Roots are plentiful through the soil, as are small and medium sized rocks. Decaying organic material is also present. Large amounts of terracotta are found, some of it in relatively large fragments in comparison to other loci. Some pottery and a single piece of slag is found, but no bone fragments. |
