Description A small patch of plaster on the southernmost block in the East Wall’s founding course. This locus probably represents foundation plaster for an overlying layer of painted and/or decorated stucco that would have covered the entire East Wall. Its opening and closing levels place its application prior to the laying of the late floor bedding (Locus 1). It should be noted, however, that this locus is found only on one ashlar on the founding course. Also, the evidence from Trenches 86 and 80 (2001) indicates that the rebuilding in this stage was precipitated by a minor collapse in the area (see below, Discussion/Interpretation). It is possible, then, that an already plastered ashlar was brought in from an adjacent damaged area and reused here.
Combined with None.
Stage Description Cryptoporticus walls blocked for the installation of the Propylaeum Central Staircase. Benches installed and third floor bedding laid.
