Description Two associated fragments of vitrified terracotta which preserve impressions. The larger fragment, fragment A, is somewhat triangular in shape, with many convexities and concavities due to vitrification. On two somewhat opposite, somewhat parallel (but still amorphous) faces are preserved concentric circular impressions. On one face, elements of fifteen concentric circular impressions are preserved, to a max. pres. radius of 0.04380m. The impressions are slightly different widths, seemingly affected by the shape of the terracotta as pressed against the material which made the impression; the max. pres. width is 0.00164m and the min. pres. width is 0.00087m. Similarly, the raised portions between the impressions are varied in width, but are generally about 0.00257m in width. This impressed face is gently convex, arcing in the same direction where the max. pres. radius is achieved. On the somewhat opposite/parallel face is another set of concentric circular impressions. The max. pres. radius is 0.04219, which consists of ten or eleven concentric circles. The impressions on this face are more obscured by extreme bubbling of the object during vitrification which has left behind many concave air bubbles as well as elements where air bubbles pushed the fragment into convex elements. On the whole, though, the area of impression is somewhat flat by comparison to that of the opposite face. Due to the nature of these two elements of impression, it seems likely that as this fragment vitrified it was pressed up against at least two fibrous materials (one on each face) which have a basket weave type pattern. The associated fragment, fragment B, is the smaller of the two and is relatively amorphous. It preserves one small element of impression, max. pres. length 0.01535m and max. pres. width of 0.00528m. It is comprised of five impressions which are somewhat "V"- or chevron shaped, with the center point of the "V" seemingly connected by an element which in reverse impression appears more raised than the bars of the "V". It seems possible that this impression was made by a fibrous cord or perhaps the edge of a basket made from fibrous material.
