Description The soil in locus 3 is a dark brown soil that is finer and more clay-like than the soil in locus 2. Locus 3 soil is only encountered in the southwestern portion of the trench. There are some smaller rocks contained within the locus. A large amount of terracotta is found in locus 3 as well as the majority of pottery discovered within the trench. Locus 3 is not completely excavated, but rather excavation is halted in locus 3 before another soil change or a feature of some type could be encountered below it.
