Description Locus 4 is an erosional deposit which consists of a fine grained brownish/reddish soil that may easily be crushed between the fingers. It is characterized by a large amount of small tree and bush roots, cobble-sized stone inclusions (less than 2%), highly eroded tile fragments (less than 2%), and pottery sherds. STRATIGRAPHIC CORRELATIONS WITH SURROUNDING TRENCHES: Locus 4 seems to correspond to the strata which Theodora B. Kopestonsky identifies as Loci 2 and 5 in T28N (2001) (see TBK II T28 North 2001, pp. 129, 131, 133, 137) and Kedar Tamhankar identifies as Loci 2, 6, 7, 8 in T28N (2002) (see KT II T28 North 2002, pp. 155, 163, 165-167, 169). FINDS: A) bulk terracotta tile fragments - 9 3/4 buckets (26cm. x 9cm.) of pieces 1cm. to 13cm. in diameter.
