Descriptive Attribute Value(s)
Trench T101_2022
Year 2022
Description

Locus 2 is the locus directly below Locus 1 in the original trench. The depth of Locus 2 is very shallow, approximately 4-7 centimeters in depth and slopes slightly downward from north to south and from west to east. Locus 2 is a light yellowish brown and is heavily compacted with a clay-like texture. Although Locus 2 contains less organic materials than Locus 1, there are still small to medium sized roots present that extend from the large grouping of trees directly on the southern baulk. There are also multiple small to medium sized rocks present throughout the middle extent of the locus, at approximately 170.5 E/ 41 S. Locus 2 is a deposit and is considered to be non-contextual given that this area was previously excavated in the 1969 season. Locus 2 is directly above and synonymous with Loci 3, 4, and 5.
