Description | A fragment of goat horn core sawn on one edge transversely through the shaft. Fragment is in section a hollow elliptical cylinder with exterior and interior faces. The sawn edge is not perfectly flat, preserving one slightly curved depression which is at its maximum 0.001m lower than the surrounding edge, but which curves up to the level of the rest of the edge over a length of about 0.016m. The opposite edge is broken transversely in an irregular manner. Originally misidentified as antler; record corrected by S. Kansa in 2022. |
