General remarks This locus is a pot holder, located SE of L145 and approximately 0.5m west of the east trench baulk. its surface is lined with bright orange-pink pot sherds and mud, forming a concave shape depression. Max. depth: 0.12m THE FOLLOWING DESCRIPTION SHOULD BE ENTERED IN THE LOCUS FEATURE DESCRIPTION FORM, HOWEVER, SYSTEM RETURNS ERROR: This feature is a pit filled with small pot sherds (bright orange in color, some burnt), pebbles, and packed with dirt. A single bone is recovered from the fill. A fragment of a ground stone was collected from the surface (top of the pot stand). Lithic debitage present also.

Has note Contexts excavated in trenches were recorded using the "locus system." A locus is any discrete three-dimensional entity excavated in a trench. The key to the locus system is the recognition that a locus is any one thing. Differences in soil composition or texture are therefore as important as, for example, the difference between a pit and a wall. If two entities were distinct, they were considered separate loci and were therefore assigned separate locus numbers. It should also be noted that every context excavated in a trench was given a locus number and thus the trench itself is made up completely of excavated loci.
