Trench T90
Size Fragment A--max. pres. length: 0.06810m; max. pres. width: 0.03995m; max. pres. thickness: 0.01095m Fragment B--max. pres. length: 0.02489m; max. pres. width: 0.01881m; max. pres. thickness: 0.00500m
Condition Fragments are worn, abraded, encrusted, and show signs of root action. All break edges are ancient, except for one cut edge on each fragment and on Fragment A some modern chipping. Fragments are associated, and share the same cut edge, but do not join.
Description Two fragments of a goat horn core sawn transversely across the shaft. Fragment A preserves a convex exterior face and concave interior face revealed by a break laterally through the goat horn core fragment. A small portion of the terminal is preserved. The opposite end from the terminal preserves an edge created from the fragment being sawn transversely. Fragment B also preserves a slightly convex exterior and slightly concave interior. The fragment is broken on three sides but has a sawn cut along the fourth edge. Fragment A and B are most likely part of the same original goat horn core, but do not join. Originally misidentified as bone, but corrected by S. Kansa in 2022.
