Description | Dry sieve material: A small unit - just ten fragments - mostly cattle sized except for two indeterminate pieces and a sheep sized vertebra. Chunks of bone are largish, and condition good, as is typical for Kopal units. There are four cattle sized long bone fragments, a skull frag, scapula (?) fragment and a distal metatarsal (normal size) that has cut marks on the condyles (dismemberment?) and was most likely chopped across the distal shaft, probably for marrow. The flotation sample no 2 (4mm 100% sorted and recorded) has much smaller fragments, mainly 1 and 2cms, with more of a mix of sheep and cattle sized. No diagnostics. Some pieces burnt (low temp) as are a couple of the dry sieve material. (8 microfauna verts removed - look like they all go together). Last record = F36. |
