Description SU 7124 continues into the floor fill and is under 7121, 7122, and 7123. The soil remains same (loose, sandy clay, dark yellowish-brown) and so does context material, though we came into a concentration of kitchen wares in this SU.

This SU recovers a middle Byz. Pot sherd (fs 7124_1002) in our floor fill (a sealed deposit). Thus, 7112_f1 must post-date this sherd and we now have evidence for middle Byz. Use of this area in some capacity (a functional analysis is not possible now). Moreover, the major collapse debris sits atop this floor and so much post-date the floor and wall as well—it now is clear that the annex building was standing beyond the 13th century (Scott’s prelim analysis) and was presumably maintained in some sense from c. 500 on. Obviously Arab raiders must go now too.

FS 7124_1002; Middle Byzantine pottery; green vitreous glaze; N 169.60, E 409.70, el. 6.08 m, ceramic.

FS 7124_1001: Stone mortar—from mortar and pestle; E410.0, N 170.0, el. 6.16 m

SU closed arbitrarily, same soil and context.
