Trench t103_2023
Year 2023
Description Locus 1 was a layer of medium brown sunbaked compact soil that covered the entire trench. It had frequent inclusions of plaster, vitrified plaster, and pottery. There were also inclusions of plaster with reed impressions, tile, bone, vitrified terracotta, and small to medium stones. Locus one was the result of the accumulation of soil atop the trench area as a result of the area being left open for an extended period of time after excavation ceased there in T26 in the 1980s. Later the area was covered in plastic tarp and backfilled and remained in this condition for decades. As a result, lines and striations were baked onto the surface from the shape of the plastic tarp.
