Condition Extremely fragile restoration from at least 16 sherds, chipped, worn, some preserving slight traces of glossy finish; preserves approximately two-thirds of vessel, lacking chips and knob finial.
Description Round, slightly convex lid of bucchero has molded shape and decorated surface: inner surface is concave, with depressions corresponding to molded contours of exterior and with a low circular ridge set 0.021 m, in from edge of piece. Exterior surface has very slightly rounded thin edge which slopes slightly upward toward center molded raised surface which consists of a radiating pattern of tear-shaped convex areas set around a shallow circular ridge in the center of which is the knob handle - radiate pattern has four tear-shapes with points turned outward and between each of these are four tear-shapes with rounded ends turned outward; at outer edge of this molded pattern are three to four shallow circular grooves separating it from the plain outer edge of upper surface. In center of convex top is cylindrical knob, lacking top finial, and composed of a thick cylindrical section with three horizontal grooves, and narrowing at top to a thinner, tapering, plain cylindrical section which would have been rounded into the finial.
