Description | This is a very small unit - a fill from a posthole in Kopal offsite area. Dry sieve material is mainly scrap from cattle sized animals, with a sheep sized rib too; fragment length are up to ca. 7 cm. A cattle-sized long bone ment is calcined but the rest is fairly well preserved and unburnt. The flotation sample no 2 (>4mm 100% sorted and recorded) has a small quantity of bone, much of which seems to be freshly broken fragments of a cattle sized longbone shaft. There are some tiny pieces which appear rolled/eroded, but the rest is fresh. 10% is charred - hence there seem generally to be mixed derivations for the unit. Last record =F16. |
