Description	Locus 2 covered the entire trench area. Its soil was a mottled medium brown color with numerous yellowish clay inclusions. Yellow inclusions were especially prevalent in western half of the trench. Roots and organic material were still present throughout trench, but not in tangled masses and without the root rot concentrations of locus 1. Pickpasses revealed many small rocks in southern end of trench, which we removed. The presence of larger rocks in the S area soon indicated that we had come upon a rock feature, and so we began to define them carefully. Found one very small area of hard, whitish-gray soil near this rock feature, which came up in thin flakes when scraped. Because Locus 2 soil surrounded this area on all sides, and we were working in other areas of the trench, we did not need to declare a new locus for it. Locus 2 produced, on average, less than one bowl of worn terracotta per day. Burnt organic material and occasional burnt pottery were found in southern end of trench. We found one small piece of bronze, and two pieces of medieval pottery in this locus.
