Description | Locus 100 consists of a deep layer of loose fill with large stones and ashlars. Not much pottery was found, however, limestone capital architectural fragments were plentiful, ranging from acanthus leaves to pomegranates. The rest of the architectural fragments were mostly voussoirs and ashlar building blocks. A natural disaster may have cause a large amount of the Temple to collapse but it hard to tell. We do know, however, that the damage was extensive and that it occurred after the Temple was out of use. |
