Description | Fragment of a "cut-out" akroterion preserving complete, small curved pointed member, two flat smooth sides, one flat smooth edge which by one convex and one concave arc forms a beak-like projection with a pointed end. The curved outline is somewhat irregular. The piece is broken at the base where it attached to topmost part of a ridgepole tile. Another break goes perpendicular to the base break, between lowest part of concave arc and bottom of the piece. Probably the piece formed a lateral decorative extension, next to the tile, of main part of the akroterion. |
Fabric Description | Murlo terracotta fired light brown on surface and gray at core. Red slip on all finished surfaces. |
