Description | This is a largely arbitrary unit level with the top of the deep sounding, and immediately to its south. As such it is close to the modern surface at the bottom of the irrigation ditch, and potentially subject to contamination by slopewash from higher up the ditch cut. However, there is no sign of the incongruously fresh material noted in some of the units from higher up within T7, and taphonomy/patination is generally similar to the deep sounding units (e.g. 15112, 15115, 15129): fairly low fragmentation, reddish yellow colouration, little surface modification or burning. The sample is very small at around 40 specimens, of which about 80% are sheep sized and the remainder cattle-sized. DZ count: O/C: 5.5 Bos: 0.5 |
