Dry sieve
Date Excavated 2008-06-07
Min Elevation 55.3
Max Elevation 55.35
Description Removing extremely compacted soil with greenish inclusions. Perhaps floor, but doubtful. Very strange soil -- when scraped with trowel, shows greenish, reddish, and white clay-like areas of soil. Some small broken kitchenware. Began to come down on more homogeneous reddish brown soil, with some burnt-ashy looking spots. Small pieces of charcoal, broken pottery, and saw burnt seed. Perhaps coming down on a trash pit, in the corner where two large stone slabs form wall. Ended SU here, will begin new SU with suspected trash pit.
