Description

Sediment sample T90-15-70 was recovered in 2018, its original volume was 20 litres. It derives from trench 90, locus 15, dated to the early mid-7th century. The sample was floated in2018, details on its content can only be assessed in the future. The heavy fraction was likewise sorted in 2018. It was divided into a >6mm, >3mm, and >1mm fraction. Of the >6mm and >3mm fraction 100% were sorted, the >1mm fraction is not sorted yet, but stored at the magazzino for future sorting. The variety of arte- and geofacts was high, and the heavy fraction is in general described as containing high amounts of plaster. In the >6mm fraction charcoal, bone, slags, and pottery/terracotta were recovered. In the >3mm fraction charcoal, bone, pottery/terracotta, and hammerscale were recovered. Furthermore, seeds and unspecified bronze fragments were recovered.
