Descriptive Attribute Value(s)
Summary Excavation of reddish, somewhat compact layer of soil, East of wall feature(s).

Dry sieve.
Date Excavated 2008-06-04
Min Elevation 55.39
Max Elevation 55.57
Description Closed West part of trench due to lack of room with stones/walls. This SU continues in the remainder of trench. Lots of mortar bits and plaster coming up -- one piece of possible floor or wall. Soil around large rock quite soft compared to remainder of soil, with large bit of what looks like plaster. Leveling out trench to see if rest of soil becomes soft like that.

Plaster/mortar material bits mixed in most of trench -- tumble? Soil starts to become softer and finer as we go lower.

Metal pointed arrow-tip object found in sift in this SU.

We are ending this SU in order to open a new section of the trench in the SW corner to define large feature rock/wall. Soil not distinct/different at the close of this SU -- arbitrary end (though we do hit areas of looser, soft soil but it is mottled throughout).
End elev: E 55.39 C 55.43 W 55.44.
