Primary photo False
Photo Type Artifact Illustration
Photo ID 21006
Album ID 0
Description Double moulded bucchero handle in two sections joined at the top and surmounted by a round, cone-like knob in two layers. The interior section is in the form of a vertical plaque joined to the vase at its rim. The plaque tapers in the middle and is decorated with two large voluted palmettes. The exterior section is curved and joins the vase at its shoulder. It is in the form of a molded winged female figure, rendered frontally from the waist up. Her arms are bent at the elbows and held in front of her body, meeting in the center; she appears to be holding her wings, which curve out towards her shoulders and then in at the head, gradually widening. The head is in higher relief and preserves two large almond-shaped eyes with pupils indicated in relief, a long flat nose, short thick lips, and a heavy rounded chin. At the base of the figure are two discs projecting out from each lateral side.
