Description | A portion of a painted cavetto is preserved. The fragment preserves two finished faces with a gentle curve and one finished edge. One finished face is relatively smooth and covered by a wash of red paint. The finished edge is relatively flat and overhung by a slight ridge from the smooth, painted face. The other surface is decorated with three convex strigils. Along one break edge there is the beginning of an upward curve of a fourth strigil. Traces of dark reddish brown paint are preserved between the strigils. Large inclusions, small stones and mica, are visible throughout the fabric of the fragment. |
