Title Lateral Sima (in Two Fragments)
Description Right side of lateral sima. Although only the lower portion of the strigils is reserved, the back of the sima starts to curve outwards at its upper broken edge. Therefore, the sima was probably crowned by a cavetto similar to 19660030. the sima has a thick base, preserved to 0.075 m, which allowed it to be securely held in place; its right edge has been carried back to form a wider joint. Two scars are at the right side. These represent the point of attatchment for applied decoration, perhaps rosettes such as 19660056. At the left is a hole whose inner part has been smoothed but the outer edge has been broken. An animal's brow and its two flaring ears are above the hole: it is a water spout in feline or canine form - the remainder of the face and open mouth are missing.
