Description | Perhaps the finial of a vase lid. The bird has an oval body with wings folded over the back; the wings extend out from the body slightly in overhanging ridges. The two wings are differentiated on the bird"s back only by a wide groove near the tail. The back is slightly arched; the neck tapers toward the (missing) upraised head. The forms of the bird"s body are rounded and simple, with no detailing or decoration visible. |
