Description | Ridge pole tile with flat, "cut-out" type abstract akroterion: tile is simple semicircular shape with raised edges of clay roughly modeled into rope type pattern; long sides of tile are finished at bottom with slightly vertical edges of uneven height. At one end of tile is flat sided section of terracotta forming a cut-out akroterion roughly perpendicular to tile, but actually curved to one side; shape is roughly triangular with rounded bottom corners and pointed tip, with cut-out triangle inside, and with arched and inward curving limbs springing from upper section triangle on each side - the non joining akroterion fragment is one of the curved pointed tips of the limbs. |
