Description | Fragment of ridge pole is thick curved terracotta slab with flat-sided vertical edge of short side and plain, inward slanted edge on long side; on top side, near break in tile, which occurs near center of orginal shape, is preserved a small statue foot - foot is narrow and less than life-sized, with rounded modeled planes to indicate forms of shod foot - concave arch, rounded heel, wide toes with pointed up-turned toe of shoe; foot is broken at ankle just above rounded raised areas of ankle joint. Just behind the foot, which points in the direction of the finished short side close to it, is a small finished area, a vertical edge forming part of a circular hole in the tile apparently the slot for insertion of a tubular statue support. |
