Description Fragments of bucchero oinochoe preserving portions of the shoulder and neck. The fluted walls taper in from the lower break. The shoulder is marked by two parallel incised grooves alternating with two bands in relief. The inward curve of the shoulder continues onto the neck. Below the top fracture there is a wide horizontal ridge in relief which marks the point where the walls begin to curve outwards. A curving handle, broken off at the top, joins the vase at the shoulder. Viewed from the side, the interior profile forms one unbroken curve from the juncture with the shoulder to the top break, while the exterior profile is interrupted by a wide rectangular base which projects out from the rest of the handle surface. The exterior surface is decorated with a moulded plaque, considerably worn and difficult to distinguish. It appears to be a human figure (male), in profile view and facing left, in relief and seated on a chair (throne) wiht a back surmounted by a roundish form. The upper arm drops vertically from the shoulder, bends at the elbow, and projects out horizontally while resting on his thigh. In the hand he holds a staff, whose tip consists of an arrowhead-shaped form topped by two successive fleur-de-lis. A lower leg extends vertically from a bent knee and parallels the leg of the chair. Body parts are distinguished by incision as well as from the chair. Underneath the chair, between the two legs, an animal sits on its back haunches and rests on its straight front leg. It shows a prominent, pointed nose of beak and a long nose.
