Description | Below a cavetto with strigils set off by grooves (0.004 m)is a low relief of a dog chasing a hare. The cavetto tilts slightly to the right. Only the hindquarters of the hare survive. The dog is in profile. It has a small triangular head attached to a thick neck. The forequarters are triangular and taper back to the hind legs which are extended behind in a running position. The tail, broken at the tip is long, thin, and curved. A groove emphasises the stomach of the dog. The legs are short. Below the hare and dog is a guilloche with round knobs of clay in the openings. Because the animals run to the left, perhaps this is the right raking sima. The back is smooth. |
