Description | Below a cavetto with strigils set off by grooves (0.004 m wide) is a low relief of a dog chasing two animals resembling Corinthian hares. Only the hind quarters of the front hare survive. The second hare has an elongated body shown in profile with only its left legs depicted. A slight depression marks the trunk of the hare. The forequarters are emphasized by an almost triangular projection of clay. The legs are thin ridges of clay. The face is triangular and the ears are long. The dog is twice the size of the hares and also in profile. It has a small triangular head attached to a thick neck. The forequarters are triangular and taper back to the hind legs which have almost completely disappeared. A groove emphasises the stomach of the dog. The legs are short. Below the hares and dog is a guilloche with round knobs of clay in the openings. Because the animals run to the left perhaps this is the right raking sima. The back is smooth. |
