Description | A fragment of a buccheroid vessel, possibly a plate, preserves parts of two stamps on two registers, on its convex surface. The lower register is a roulette stamp design and consists of (from left to right) the front portion of a grazing stag on the left side of the fragment and the hindquarters of a sphinx or griffon with a curved wing extending from its shoulder; both creatures face right. The upper register preserves what seem to be three legs belonging to probably two different animals. The rest of the upper register has broken off. A very small part of a raised ridge is preserved below the lower register. |
