E-F/99 was taken down to roughly 70 cm below surface. This will probably be the final cut in this area. At this depth more rocks were encountered. They seem to run from meter G to E, here in meter 99, just as they do in the easternmost part of the trench, meter 102. Very little tile was found in this cut, but 1/2 a latte box of assorted pottery was found. One piece of molded bucchero was among the pottery, which consisted of coarseware, orangeware, and impasto.
E-F/105-106, farther down the slope of the hill, was removed of top soil. (Only 1/2 of F was excavated). These meters were then taken down to 30 cm below surface. Roughly four pieces of small, worn pottery were found. Less than 1/2 a cassetta of tile was found. We will probably keep this cut a 2 x 1 1/2 meters in size.

E-F/105-106 were taken down to 50 cm below surface. Soil at this level and above is rich brown. No "yellowing" of the soil has occurred as we\'ve gone deeper. This is unlike the meters previously excavated to the west (E-F/99-102), where at 50 cm the soil was definitely more yellow than that above. Two possible ivory fragments were found. Almost one cassetta of tile was found and less than 1/2 a latte box of pottery.
