The soil of the trench is still very damp from the previous four days of rain. Nevertheless work continued in Locus 18 bringing the locus down to the level of LOcus 19 . As the cut got closer to locus 19, more carbon and ceramic fragments were found and the amount of terracotta decreased. The higher levels of the cut consisted mostly of pantile and covertile fragments. This may represent an area of Orientalizing destruction debris at this level. The cut was not finished today, but it will be continued on the next working day. The trench began to dry out as the day progressed, so work should be easier and the pace should quicken after the weekend. Locus 18 produced 1/6 cassetta of terracotta and 3/4 latte box of pottery sherds. Some of the ceramic fragments are bucchero and buccheroid.
