A pick pass was done in the southern meter of locus 6. The soil was hard this morning but that seems to be due to drying out this weekend, after the first picks the soil returned to its form claylike consistency. Soil was shoveled and sorted at the wheelbarrow. 2 pieces of slag were found a small (SF #1) and a large piece (SF #2).

The next meter norther was picked (51-50 S). While picking a rocchetto fragment was found (SF #5), a statue fragment (#6), and a curved flange (#7) was also found. While sorting the

The rest of the 50-51 S pick pass was picked up and sorted, tile and pottery were found, also a piece of plaster was found and counted in the tile bowl. This pass has turned up a large number of flange fragments, some are less eroded than others. This pass has also turned up the flakey yellow and white galestra. It connects with the galestra found under locus 5 in the northern part of the trench and slopes down towards the southern part. The next meter south was picked again (51-52 S). Tile and pottery were found, a good number of medium rocks were found (10-15 cm in size). This was also noticed in the meter north (50-51 S). Pieces of vitrified terracotta were found, but they are now being counted as bulk finds. A piece of bone was recovered and counted in bulk finds. Part of this pass also exposed the slope of the galestra. Looking at the over all trench it
seems that the southern part of the trench is slightly lower than CB 57, and there is still no galestra in this area. Therefore the picking will stop and the galestra slope traced, also the western baulk will be cleaned to allow a clearer picture of the profile. The floor of the trench was scraped. While checking the tile bowl, a piece of slag was found (SF #10). While cleaning the western baulk a piece of bronze was found (SF #11).
