Pottery Summary

Pottery Summary

Very little pottery was found in any of the three CD 14 trenches.  14 pieces were found in total throughout the trenches, 4 having come from CD 14-A, 3 from CD 14-B, and 7 from CD 14-C, including one piece of glazed medieval pottery from CD 14-C.  Most of the pottery found was very worn (as is to be expected because the trenches are located below the retaining wall) and no identifiable diagnostic pieces were found.

Impasto was the most common pottery type, with 8 pieces of impasto having been recovered.  Coarseware was the second most common type, with 4 pieces having been recovered.  In addition, 1 piece of fineware was recovered from CD 14-C.
