A.M.

This morning we continued to pick axe across the surface of Locus 15, in order to clearly see the carbonized soil found along the south and west walls.  After two complete pick passes, moving across the trench east to west, the highly carbonized soil was clearly visible in an L shape, moving north.  We are hoping to see the soil continue to darken and move a few centimeters north, in order to see a clear line of the dark soil across the southern 1m x 3m part of the trench.

P.M.

This afternoon two additional pick passes were completed, and the soil continued to reveal a consistent stratigraphy.  Carbon-included soil continued to reside along the south and the west walls.  It remains dense and clay-like with further white and red inclusions.

Loci 14 and 17 were defined in preparation...

...for the aerial photography on 30 July 2008.  The south and west baulk walls were then trimmed and display a neat and defined stratigraphy.
